Today is World Chocolate Day (July 7)! To celebrate, we’ve scoured the foodie scene for the latest and best bars, snacks and spreads, all with a healthy and/or eco twist!
Our favourite bars…
Montezumas Absolute Black With Almonds (£2.59) was developed after a lot of research and experimenting. The blend of cocoa ensures flavour consistency and, most importantly, avoids the bitter taste common with so many 100% dark chocolate bars. This one is studded with blanched almonds for an added nutty texture.
Prodigy Chunky Chocolate Bars (from £5) are made with
natural ingredients and have significantly less sugar compared to mainstream
chocolate bars, along with up to 30% of the daily recommended intake of fibre.
The Vital Leaf CBD Chocolate Bars (from £4.99) are all created with 73% cacao and flavoured with organic, ethically sourced Fairtrade ingredients. All bars contain 30mg of CBD and are naturally vegan, gluten free and low-glycemic. Choose from Classic Dark Chocolate, Dark Toasted Quinoa Crunch, or Roasted Hazelnut & Sea Salt.
Divine Chocolate Organic Collection (from £2.99) is 100 per cent organic, vegan-friendly and certified Fairtrade. Each bar is made with at least 85 per cent dark chocolate. Choose from Plain, Lemon, Blueberry & Quinoa, Cacao Nibs or Ginger – or try out the whole collection with their Organic Dark Chocolate Bar Set! (£10)
Ombar NEW Salt & Nibs Cacao Bars (£2.99) combine rich 64 per cent cacao dark with fruity cacao nibs and a touch of salt. They are also certified organic, Fairtrade and vegan friendly!
Ohso Dark Chocolate Bars (£4.99) come in seven tiny bars – one per day of the week. Each bar is made with high quality dark Belgian chocolate and micro-encapsulated probiotics, which are live bacteria to improve gut health.
NOMO Chocolate Bars (99p each) are all vegan-friendly and free from dairy, gluten, eggs and nuts. Choose from Hazelnot, Creamy Choc, Dark Choc, Caramel & Sea Salt and Fruit & Crunch.
Hotel Chocolat 45% Nutmilk Chocolate Batons (£6.50) are vegan and made using finely milled hazelnuts. Smooth and mellow, at 45% cacao, Nutmilk has all the creamy depth of regular milk chocolate.
Love Cocoa Gin & Tonic 71% Dark Chocolate Bar (£4) is vegan friendly and features rich dark chocolate plus warm notes of juniper. All of Love Cocoa’s products are palm oil free and feature 100 per cent recyclable packaging – plus, each purchase leads to a tree being planted, in the brand’s fight against deforestation.
Pierre Marcolini’s NEW Pastel Collection (from £18) fuses refreshing citrus flavours with smooth house chocolate. These fruity treats are perfect for summer!
