BOXES of water from the eco company JUST Goods will be given out to runners at this weekend’s ASICS London 10k event.
JUST Goods, founded by Will & Jaden Smith, has teamed-up with Virgin Sport and the ASICS London 10K to replace all single-use plastic bottles at the finish line with JUST Water cartons.
An additional 40,000 single use plastic bottles will be removed from the route and replaced with 100 per cent recyclable cups.
Ira Laufer, CEO of JUST said: “Together, we aim to inspire and show that a small change, such as changing your bottled water to a more sustainable option, is something we all can do to create a positive impact on our planet.”
The ASICS London 10K will also be the first race organised by Virgin Sport to eliminate plastic kit bags – replacing them with long-life natural cotton tote bags.
Half a million single-use plastic bottles will be removed from all Virgin Sport’s events in 2019 as part of Virgin Sport’s pledge to create the most eco-friendly mass participation fitness events in the UK.
This partnership with JUST Goods comes weeks after the Virgin Sport Hackney Half became the largest race in the UK to eliminate single use plastic.
